Comparison
DecisionOS vs Claude
Claude is strong at long-context research, reasoning and drafting. DecisionOS is strong at turning one enterprise technology decision into an audit-ready memo with structured criteria, weighted scoring, compliance mapping and stakeholder alignment. For CISO / CIO decisions that must survive NIS2 Art. 20 or DORA Art. 28 review, DecisionOS is the layer the Claude output eventually lands in.
TL;DR
Claude reasons. DecisionOS records the decision.
Side-by-side comparison
| Criterion | DecisionOS | Claude |
|---|---|---|
| Primary purpose | One decision end-to-end to an audit-ready memo | General reasoning, research, drafting |
| Structure | Enforced: trigger, criteria, evidence, stakeholders, decision | Unstructured conversation |
| Weighted scoring | Built in, live total, dealbreaker separation | Not a feature |
| Evidence flags | Unverified data marked per claim | Model output treated uniformly |
| Stakeholder briefs | Per-role briefs generated from the same memo | User re-prompts for each audience |
| Compliance scope | NIS2, DORA, ISO 27001, SOC 2 pre-mapped | No compliance model |
| Persistence | Versioned decision memory across cases | Session-scoped or artifact-scoped |
| Hosting | EU-only (Germany) | US-based by default |
Choose DecisionOS when
- ✓The deliverable is a decision memo that has to hold up under audit.
- ✓Multiple stakeholders must land on shared criteria.
- ✓The decision sits inside NIS2, DORA, ISO 27001 or SOC 2 scope.
Stick with Claude when
- ·Long-context document analysis or legal / technical review.
- ·Drafting, summarisation, exploratory reasoning.
- ·Individual research before stakeholders enter the picture.
How DecisionOS is different
DecisionOS and Claude solve different problems. Many teams actually use both: Claude as the research and drafting partner, DecisionOS as the structured workflow that produces the final memo. DecisionOS uses LLMs internally for extraction and drafting, with every model output clearly flagged as a suggestion rather than a fact.
Questions we get about this
Can Claude produce a decision memo directly?
Claude can draft text that looks like a decision memo, but it does not enforce criteria structure, weighted scoring, evidence flagging or stakeholder tracking. The resulting document is narrative, not structured. For audit-ready evidence, structure has to be enforced end-to-end.
Does DecisionOS use Claude under the hood?
DecisionOS uses current-generation large language models for specific tasks (extracting decision structure, suggesting stakeholder concerns, drafting summary sections). Model vendor is an implementation detail that does not change the structured output.
Where is DecisionOS hosted?
Entirely in the EU (Hetzner, Nuremberg, Germany). No application data leaves the European Union. Analytics is self-hosted and cookie-free. A data processing agreement per Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the hosting provider.
How do I evaluate DecisionOS for my next decision?
Book a 30-minute demo at nexalign.io/book. During the demo the team walks a real decision end-to-end using a scenario close to yours (EDR, IAM, sovereign cloud, ERP, whichever fits).
